How subjects are learned

How to actually learn psychology

Psychology looks like a facts subject and is examined as an evidence subject. The names and studies matter only as far as you can say what each one showed, how, and what it cannot show — which is why memorising the textbook produces fluent students who lose marks on every 'evaluate' question.

The method

Start from the question, examine how it was studied, and judge what the evidence can carry.

Critique studies, distinguish correlation from cause, design a study that would settle the question.

From the engine These aren't study tips — they are the planning values Akiri's pedagogy engine uses for every psychology plan it builds: the session rhythm below, with about 30% of study time spent doing rather than being told.

Where it goes wrong

Contradictory findings with no way to adjudicate.

Adjudication IS the discipline. The skill being examined is weighing two studies — sample, design, measurement — and saying which carries more, not memorising a winner.

The statistics obscure an otherwise readable argument.

Learn the statistics as instruments of the argument: what does this test let the authors claim? Studied that way, the numbers serve the reading instead of blocking it.

What mastery actually looks like

Not a grade — observable abilities. A plan should be able to say which of these it has evidence for:

Keeping it

Tie every finding to the question it answers — orphan facts do not survive.

Common questions

Is psychology a lot of memorisation?

The facts are the entry fee; the marks are in appraisal. The engine plans psychology with as much reflection and critique as content — every finding tied to the question it answers.

How do I get better at evaluate questions?

Practise the adjudication directly: two studies, one question, which carries more and why. That is the examined move, and it is trainable.

How should I remember all the studies?

Attach each study to its question and its limitation, not to its year. A finding that answers something is retained; an orphan citation is not.

Akiri turns this into your actual week: tell it your goal and your date, and it measures where you're starting from, builds the plan backwards from the deadline with this discipline's own rhythm, and rebuilds it as you go — in English, French, Spanish, Hindi or Chinese.
